Grafskaya Pristan, the port of Sevastopol. It is about a 10-minute walk
to the town center. Taxis are generally available. It may be difficult
to find English-speaking drivers.
Shopping . Some popular items include Palekh
lacquer boxes, Matryoshka wooden dolls, wood carvings, painted plates,
embroidered blouses, amber, and Crimean sparkling wine. The main
shopping area is next to the Panorama Building, a 20-minute taxi drive
away, and at Admiralty Harbor, which can be reached on foot in 15
minutes. The local currency is the hryvnia. Except for private sellers
and souvenir shops, stores accept only local money.
Cuisine . Almost any restaurant downtown offers Crimean and
Russian dishes. The main course is often Ukrainian borscht and
Russian pelmeny (dumplings).
Sevastopol Aquarium. The aquarium displays a vast array of fish and
marine life FROM the waters of the Black Sea.
